Ray's Story

I will tell you some of my story here. I have held a Journeyman Electrician License in the State of Texas for more than 15yrs, a Fire Alarm Technician's License for about 15yrs also and a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (Fire Alarm Systems Level II) Certificate for about 10yrs now. I work with AutoCad 14 to 2009 engineering and designing Fire Alarm, Security and CCTV Systems, plus I use all kinds of computer programs for the construction industry. I build my own computers, I love working with my hands and seeing the finished product of my work. I take pride in my work, something I got from my dear old Dad (God rest his soul). My job requires that I call all over the country and sometimes outside the country. I talk with Local and/or State Code Officials about what they will be requiring by code for a new Building that is being built in their jurisdiction. Once I have done that I can design the system and make a quote with the components required on it so the salesman can present it to the customer. Once the customer accepts the quote, I then have to make a final AutoCAD Drawing and Submittal Package (which has device cut sheets, calculation pages, licenses and many other pages in it) to send to the Code Officials for their Stamp and Signed Approval. Now the Stamped Drawings can go to the site and work can begin. That is usually the end of my involvement with the project unless there is a problem and/or change that I have to deal with. There is never a dull moment doing my job, and I love it. There is always something new, the codes always keep changing and I have to keep up with the changes all over the country. The types of movies I like are Sci-Fi, Action Adventure, Comedy, and a good Love Story. The music I like is just as varied as the movies ...Expand for more
I like; a little long hair, some 70's-80's Rock, Blues, Jazz, and even some CW; but there are two things I just can't get my head around and they are Rap or Heavy Metal. The things I like to do are; photography, watching most car and/or Motorcycle racing (especially Formula 1 car racing). I like tinkering with something broken to fix it, or learning something new. I'm trying to follow this outline they have here on classmates, but I can't think of a teacher that I would like to see again. I never really got that close to any of the teachers, or they never got that close to me. I was just another name in amongst their 5 or 6 classrooms full of kids in a day, at least that is the way I felt. I think that the wildest thing I ever did in school was; one day to cut class right after roll call. I was in gym and climbed out the windows to get out. They were keeping us inside that day, Right after they took roll call, the teachers went into their offices and I climbed out the Gym windows so I could go to the lunch period that was going on at the time. For me, at the time, that was wild. I'm not sure what ever happened to my first crush. I'm sure I was like most every other boy probably; who had the "First Crush" while we were still in Grade School or Jr. High. If you were like me, you did not have a clue as to what was going on, well maybe some of you did. I will never forget the smell of her perfume and a few other things. Thinking about her now, takes me back to those days. I got married right out of High school and stayed that way for 15+yrs until the divorce. I have never remarried but I do have someone significant in my life, we have lived together for more than 6yrs now. I have a great Daughter, Son-n-law, and 3 Grand Daughters. Maybe more later, if I get time to finish this.
