Raylene's Story
Life
In August of 72 I got married and had two wonderful children before getting divorced in 1977. My daughter,Amy, died in 1979 from luekemia. By the grace of God I didn't totally lose my mind even though I thought I would for a while. It just didn't make sense to outlive my child at the time. But God in His infinite grace held me up and I was able to get on with the business of living and raising my son, Christopher, who is
now 27, living & working in Dallas. I am remarried. My husband, Don, and I adopted
our son, Taylor, in 1989. That baby is now a young man who is taller than me and still growing! I would have loved to have had more children but wasn't able to. Don & I both agree if we were able to change one thing about our lives it would be to have adopted more kids. Life is never dull with kids around! We homeschool Taylor, who is now 14. Homeschooling has been a great adventure. Christopher went to public school until the middle of 9th grade when we took him out of public school to homeschool. After he graduated from high school he attended TCJC and then went to Baylor University. Don flies for Southwest Airlines and loves it. It's a great company to work for and we are thankful it is one airline that didn't lay anyone off after 9/11. I have been a stay-at-home (what an oxymoron that is!)since we adopted Taylor. I love my "job" and am so blessed to have...Expand for more
it. Doesn't bother me in the least to tell people I am a wife and mom. I believe that it is one of the hardest jobs but also the most rewarding one! Before I started staying home I worked for Kitty Hawk Airways as an assistant to the owner & president of the company. I was also the the office manager. It was a great job but the one I have now has much better benefits - I get to sleep with the boss and spend his money - LOL! I just read back over this "bio" and it sounds boring but I assure you my life has not been boring in the least! I have sometimes wished it would be for a week or two though! We like to travel & have over the years but my parents are needing us more and more so we don't get away as much as we would use to and would like to. My Mom has fibromyalgia and Dad has
Alzheimers. We still managed to take our annual ski trip in February. I broke my leg skiing in 94. It was a major break - 7 breaks in my left leg. Since it took so long to heal I decided to give up the snow skiing but I might have to take up water skiing again as Don has the "boat bug" now! We have a little place at Texoma that we run to whenever we can. Still like to camp some but haven't truly roughed it several years ... getting old and spoiled! :-) We attend a Bible church in Southlake (Texas) and love it. Hope more of you write your "bio's" as it's fun to catch up with everyone.
