Raymond's Story

Totally retired now, grandson is now 12 and in 7th grade.&very much interested in science, bugs, geology, fossil digs and basketball. Still live on lake Texoma,Tx,. Strange when you live so close its harder to get to the water,Ha. Really enjoy staying in touch with old friends. I have been a CASA, Lic Jailer (vol) , Engineer for Bell Telco(RIP),Investigator and have done surveilance and undercover work for different agencies. I think the military wall for vets from Kofa is super! I ordered the book "Running Dry" from Julie Gilpin Elliot (Two Oceans Books, check out facebook). Its about the Colorado River. Very good read. Did you know the river does'nt get to the gulf anymore? Since I last posted my grandson has taken up shooting sports. I think having a lot of experience with computer games has helped his hand /eye coordination. He is very good shooting his pistol from the hip and even better shooting his rifle thru the sites. In 2 days he shot 4 cotton -mouth snakes ,1 head shot for each. I enjoy his company and teaching him and his friends how to do things safely and correctly. If you ...Expand for more
have children around you take time to be with them and to teach them. It is so rewarding. I am looking forward to a time when we can take a trip back to Yuma and show him the places my son and I tell him so much about. I am also concerned about all the historical places being lost in Yuma County and Arizona. Our Children need to see the historical places and hear the stories of what all happened in Southern Az. and S Ca. Yall are all welcome to come sit by our campfire anytime. Ray I always wanted to be a forest ranger when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. by coming to Texas I met and married a wonderful lady. If you have any grandsons and they need a good wife, send them to Texas. these girls are very good cooks..and in the north and eastern part of Texas ,N of Dallas there are trees everywhere. I love trees. One thing I will always remember is cruising 4th Ave. and watching all the drag racing that started at the light on 24th St.. My parents ran Clicks Texaco on that corner. Anyone wanna guess how many times I was asked to give a little extra gas for free. HA! It happened a few times........
