Life After graduating from CD high, I spent some time learning about life, including Air Force service, and finally decided to go to college at age 24. I graduated with a double major in Finance and Accounting (with distinction) from Temple University and was immediately hired by Coopers & Lybrand. I got my CPA in 1976 and went to Campbell Soup Company in 1981. In 1985 I was promoted to Vice President Corporate Controller and in 1988 was made a General Manager of LeMenu Frozen Foods. In 1991, I went to West Pharmaceutical Services as Senior Vice President and CFO then to Genencor International in Palo Alto, California as CFO. After taking them public in 2000, they were sold in 2005. I recently retired as Senior VP and CFO of Clarient, Inc. in Aliso Viejo, CA. We are now living in Satellite Beach, Florida My start in life was less than stellar, like many in Olney, with little encouragement and less wealth. Joe Queenan, a 1968 CD graduate, captured the essence of our early years with his depiction of his life in Olney and at Cardinal Dougherty in the book "Closing Time" which was recently published. Chapter 8 is particularly worth reading for a Cardinal Dougherty graduate. I started 1st grade at age 5 and I was mentally and physically a year or two behind everyone else so my school years were made much more difficult than necessary.
