Raymond Matton:

CLASS OF 1978
Cowansville, QC

Raymond's Story

Life Hello to all my old Massey Vanier friends from the 70's. I live in Alberta and have worked in the military since 1980. I am single , have 2 cats and I am also a custom knife maker. I drive a 1996 Dodge Ram and enjoy life by doing as little as possible and kicking back. Back in the school days I was in Mr.Barkshire's electrical shop most of the day. Guess you could call me a shop rat. I was quite a kook in school acting out like some nut case just to get laughs. One of my very good friends died that same year , I'm sure most of you knew or heard of him , Shannon Obrian , a good old boy from Sutton died in his Dad's car in a tragic rollover. It hit me pretty hard that summer of 78 but time has a way of mending sorrows. I think of those years alot and wonder what most of you guys/girls are up to these days. I would give a left kidney to go back in time and walk into school and see all my old friends again, and some of the teachers. Hey Remeber Mr. Fecete? haha, that old teacher that had all the rebels in the same class? Boy did we give him a hard time .. Like that anoying whistling and he would say , "What is that??" I would say , "Its ultra sonic feedback in your hearing aid Gramps" Yea those were the days for sure. I remember skipping school on a class dare with my shop friend and we hitched hiked and ended up in a stripper bar called the Double FF back in Granby drinking beer while the rest of you...Expand for more
were in school. Boy did we pay for that little stunt the day later. The last year after final exams were a bit tense as I didn't want to have to repeat another year at school. But I did manage to pass all my exams and I was then a free man like many of you. I'm sure if you were to take a walk into the school today things would sure look different. Infact I was told that all of the shops are no more. Thats to bad , I had alot of good times down there. 17 years old man was I a young punk with no clue what I was going to do after school. I worked for 2 years from 78 till early 1980 at Bontempi in Granby. That was an electric organ company. In July of that same year I decided to sign my life away and join the Candian Armed Forces. Basic Training was pretty rough for this 19 year old. Long story short after 27 years of service I'm still an active member in the Air Force working on the F18 Hornet. Anyway to all my old friends from Massey Vanier and who ever reads my Bio , nice to hear from you and I hope that what ever road of life you have decided to travel down everything worked out well for you. As for me I have a few more years for retirement then who knows. Maybe buy a cheap house in Saskatchewan and sit on my rocking chair and watch the wheat fields bow in the wind, or maybe move back to Cowansville or Granby and live with my 110 year old mother. Take care. Raymond
