Raymond's Story
Hi, everone! I was asked to write my story. There's not much to it, so I'll make it short and sweet. I graduated from South Cobb in June 1962. Went on the Senior trip, and had a wonderful time. I went to work that summer, working for my grandfather as a painter. I worked for him for a year, when I went to work at Rich's Cobb Center. I was there on the first day it opened, and worked there until I joined the military in April,1965. I was released from the military in December,1968. I became a respiratory therapist. I helped found the first asthma camp in Georgia. That was in August, 1981. It was held in Cleveland, Georgia, at a Jewish facility called camp Barney Mednitz. We let the kids name the camp, and they named it Camp Breathe easy. That first year, we took 22 kids to camp. Now there are over 200 kids every june, and the camp is held in Rutledge, Georgia. ...Expand for more
I was married to Jean Preston from Milwaukee, Wisconsin in August, 1967. We enjoyed a 30 year marriage. She died a hard death from lupus, 8 days before our 30th wedding anniversary. Now, mostly I hang out in coffee shops in Marietta, Smyrna, and Atlanta. I love coffee, and meet lots of wonderful, interesting people all the time. It's also given me the opportunity to make friends of all ages. Made a good friend, Sarah, just the other day at Cool Beans in Marietta. She's 21 and a junior at Georgia State University. Coffee shops really are great places. Why don't you write me, and lets meet at one? I'll buy. I would enjoy your company, whoever you are. Also, I'm a lifelong runner. If you think you migjt like to go on a run with me, please let me know. It would be an honor to run with you. Everyone take care, and thanks for your time in reading this story. Ray Yawn.
