Reb's Story

Life Update 2006-I hope everyone is still doing well. It is hard to believe we are getting REALLY OLD, and in a hurry. I am still living in Central Texas and have been in this area since 1995. I have been teaching and coaching at my current school since the fall of 1999. Since football is king in Texas, and I'm at a 5A school, my situation is very good. We have great facilities (better than most colleges), our program has been very successful (have 4 players in the NFL), and I spend a majority of my day either in the weight room or on the field. It is like coaching at the college level without having to go on the road to recruit. I am blessed to be able to coach my boys as well. My oldest son is now a senior and will graduate early in December. He will be 18 in about three days. He is now 6' 3.5, about 220 pounds, and still growing. He is our starting TE and our back-up QB. Last season he was 1st team all-district at TE, 1st team all-district in baseball as a 1st baseman and pitcher, and was a 50' shot putter in track. He is rated as one of the top ten TE's in Texas and has already been offered a football scholarship by UTEP, and has several more pending (Oklahoma State, Kansas, Texas A&M, Houston, & New Mexico). He plans to sign early and enroll wherever this spring. ...Expand for more
My middle son is a now a sophomore and is starting at LB for our varsity. I have been blessed to get to coach him this season. He is now over 6' 2 and 195 lbs. and is only 15. He is going to be something special in about two years. Although college coaches can't legally talk to him, they get word to him through me about what they think. Last spring he was the district champion in the shot put (43' 6"), 300m hurdles, and the anchor on the mile realy team (won the Gold). He should have an extremely bright future ahead of him. My youngest is in the 9th grade and at 13 is bigger than his brothers were at the same age. He just passed his mom up and is about 6' and 170 lbs. already. He made great gains this year and may wind up being pretty darn good himself. He plays TE in football, and will likely replace his brother when he graduates in two years. In baseball he has the best eye for the ball of any of the three. He is very smart as well, but tends to emulate his father at the same age. He is LAZY in the classroom!! However, he is doing quite well this fall. As you can tell I am a proud father, and have been greatly blessed. I'd love to hear how everyone else is doing, so shoot me an email. If your ever in Central Texas give me a yell. Take care and God Bless!
