I have lived in Amman, Jordan since 1975. Before that I was with my family in Beirut, and worked on the West Bank as a youth worker with 1000 Palestinian students. In Jordan, I spent 10 years setting up Save the Children, as its first country director, including 2 income generation projects that were joined by 2000 women: the Bani Hamida Weaving project and Jordan River Designs with Palestinian refugee women, who embroider quilts. The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature then asked me to set up income generation projects in Jordan's national parks, which I did for 7 years with Bedouin and villagers in the Jordanian highlands, Wadi Araba, and Wadi Rum. Before that I worked with urban poor on a slum improvement and low-cost housing project, in charge of the social workers on a large World Bank Project.
