Rebecca's Story
Wow! My life since graduating from Camanche High School has been full of adventures. After marrying Steve Finn in August of 1987, I also attended Mount St. Clare College for 2 years and earned my Associates Degree. In 1989 I had an awesome baby boy, Tyler, and in 1990 Steve and I separated and eventually divorced. In 1992 I moved to Jacksonville, NC and attended UNC - Wilmington where I earned my B.A. degree in English Education. I also met a Navy man and married Greg Holman in 1993. divorced. In 2000 I moved to Virginia where I have been living ever since. I raised my boys and taught English at the high school level. In 2007 I married George Ballard and I am about to an empty nester. My youngest son will be joining the Navy after he graduates this year. My most recent adventure has been a diagnoses of melanoma in 2011. Although I had surgery and it was removed - it came back in June of 2013 and I am battling Stage IV metastatic melanoma. I had to retire from teaching and I travel about 3 hours every other week for treatment. Life is an adventure and my faith in God keeps me on the right track.
