Becky's Story

Life Well Hello Old Friends, It has been a long time since I have seen or heard from anyone. I have been living in Chesapeake, Virginia which is the Virginia Beach area since June of 1989. I have been here 17 years now and never expected to stay this long. I have been married since 1994 to a man that I met here who has been in the Navy. He is from Columbus, Ohio and we grew up bascially three hours away from each other, but we met here. We have no children, except the four legged kind. I graduated from WCC with and Associates Degree in Nursing and then I finished by Bachelors from Wayne State in 1980. I worked around town for three years and then I went to into medical sales, which sent me on a whirlwind of travel and valuable experience. I left Michigan in 1989 to get off the fast track and came here and started my own business in medical equipment sales. I deal mainly with contracts from the Dept of. Defense and I have been a Federal Contractor for 16 years. At this point in time, I am bored and in the proces of selling my business. I have to stick around for about 6-9 months as a consultant for the new owner and then our plans are to move back home to Michigan. I have always continued to work as a Nurse and I received my Trauma Nurse Specialist Certification from Cook County General Hospital when I lived in Chicago for one year. I am also a Board Certified Wound Care Specialist from the American Academy of Wound Management and last fall I received a Fellowship Position from The Anerican Academy of Wound Management's University in Washington, D.C. I teach two classes every quarter at the University and I am active in writing tests questions for future practitioners sitting for the boards. After I hopefully sell my business, I want to take some time for myself and learn how to have fun again since I have been nothing but a workaholic for years. my dream is to move back home to help manage the family business since both of my parents passed away in 1...Expand for more
996 suddenly and at young ages. It has been too much trying to do it all for the past ten years. We would like to buy about 20 acres and I would like to become a wildlife rehabilitator and raise Alpacas. I also have some other business ideas that I would like to try my hand at or at least test the waters. My life so far has been extremely hectic and no one person can do it all and do it right. My siblings are all doing fine and I am thankful for that. I have had my share of some health problems over the past ten years that does not make me happy. I am hoping that I am just getting everything out of the way early while I am still young and in good health.Hopefully I will be blessed with an uneventful old age if I survive that long. It seems that I have inherited just about every rotton gene my family has to pass on, not that I wish any harm to my siblings but we could spread it around some I think. I doubt that I will move back to Taylor, the last time I was home I hardly recognized where we all grew up. Too much residential building in my mind, but the airport is a definate improvement. I know things are tough up there right now with the economy and the automotive industry. I pray that none or very few of you are affected. I hope to be able to come to the reunion but the time frame is a little too far out for me right now, but Rebecca Hines is keeping me posted on ticket sales. It would be great to see all of you and hopefully we will all remember each other before the night is through. Thirty-One years is a long time and for some of us a lifetime in not seeing or communicating with each other. I don't think that I have any 70's clothes and if I did, I would probably not fit into them. We are going from seeing each other graduate to menopause - what a journey. I pray that all is well with everyone and that life has been kind to you. God Bless You All I Sincerely Hope To See You At The Reunion. Updated: May 29, 2006 Sincerely, Becky Morton (Carroll)
