Rebecca's Story

Life I went into the Air Force for 4 years, lived in Illinois for 1 1/2 years with my first husband that I met and married at Little Rock AFB, Steve Klein. Then we moved to my home state South Carolina in 1991. We seperated in November of 1995, and the divorce was final in June of 1997. IF ANYONE IS WONDERING ABOUT HIM. HE IS ON HIS THIRD MARRIAGE, AND LIVING IN OR AROUND ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA. I have had various jobs, all the way from bartending to working for Otis Elevator Company for over 9 years. Yes, I am a certified (and ceritfiable, j/k) Elevator Mechanic. I am now currently employed by Elevator Technology putting in Alimack elevators at upfitted power plants. So I am in the IUEC Local #135. I am currently divorced and single...and am kinda enjoying that. Getting to know and love me again ;) I have a daughter that that is attending Midlands Tech to get her associates in Nursing and she plans on specializing in Prenatal. I love and am very proud of her, of course as every parent is of their children so I am a little biased...lol. Hope to hear from some of my classmates soon.....and I do miss our days together at Airport, Fulmer and Springdale. I miss Airport skating rink, lining up to play fooze ball, pac-man, astroids and the all night skate parties. The first time I stepped up to a fooze ball table without skates on I was lost...lol. I couldn't see a thing, but I still managed to get some great shots in..somethings you just don't lose no matter how short or tall you are at the time. My daughter went there for a while at the daycare center and there wasn't a day that I walked in there and didn't expect to see that mirrored ball out over the rink, or to see Timmy Smith back there handing out skates. Some memories die hard, or maybe they stay strong to remind us that childhood wasn't all that bad and we have to just tap into the fun memories that sometimes slip our busy got to get to work, make that paycheck, pay the bills and whatever else ties up our time. My skates still fit and work, and from time to time though it wasn't Airport, I would take my daughter and my step daughter's to skate and try to show them some of the things we used to do, like flipping the trio all the way around, and I just hope that I put an impression in them that they will one day pass on to their children. Of course the fooze ball tables and Pac Man weren't there, but in my memory they will always be there. And for the life of me I cannot remember the pattern..lol. Now of course who didn't love walking the halls of Airport. That was the social function of everyday. And the student center, And if Lynn Hane Ginn ever re...Expand for more
ads this she'll smile, because the usual was a pack of combos (remember the time I couldn't get the bag open and then it just split open and combos went flying everywhere), reese's pieces, a chicko stick and mountain dew. And a couple of people remember this: scenario: Student Center late, close to bell ringing. Rebecca: Leaned back in chair, legs propped up on table, eating combos. Ramsey: Walks in and starts nervously interrogating Rebecca about something that Rebecca called her previous day. Rebecca: Still calmly leaned back in chair and eating combos answers in ways that Ramsey did not like. Ramsey: Nervously threatens Rebecca and leaves. Rebecca: Still calmly leaned back in chair eating combos.... Oh!! And sitting in Ms. Moore's accounting class throwing reese's pieces and m&m's across the room to each other trying to catch them with our mouths, that was fun. But have to say that one of my most favorite and funniest memories of Airport was in Ms. Hooks typing class: Dale Gooding: Ms. Hooks how can you take off on that word? Ms. Hooks: Because that is not how it is spelled Dale. Dale: But that's how I spell it! That was really a normal day in Ms. Hooks class, but that one really stuck out. Workplace I currently work for Otis Elevator Company as as Elevator Service Technician. I have run into quite a few old classmates in the different buildings that I take care of elevators in. And that has been a blast. I had also worked at Michelin Tire Co. and I can't believe how many Airport people work or worked there. I left there in 1996, and a lot of people that I worked with have gone...not worth the money. I worked at Carolina Wings in Irmo...serving and bartending and ran into a few old friends there. That's about it for work info. Military Let's see....just where do you begin here...lol. Well before going to Lackland, I spent a spell at Dalgren NSWC in Virginia as a dependant, I bagged groceries at the commisary, and being me, I helped to make life hard on some SP's lives with radio play with some others. And it was a blast. For this reason Ozzy's Diary Of A Madman will always be one of my favorites. And I miss you guys. Any how, back to the real military, I miss my squadron girls (Basic Training), oh and not to mention our father squadron whom always filled the stairway with Polo, so we floated down the stairs to rollcall or whatever it was we were being called down for.....:))) I think I speak for all of the girls when I tell you "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!!" (have to go for now but will be back to finish this exciting saga of life, love and adventure !! stay tuned for the next excerpt...)
