Rebecca's Story
Life
Let's see, where were we? I moved from Lubbock to Midland the summer before my senior year. I greatly missed all my friends I had grown up with my entire life, but it was, after all, the end of the decade that was famous for being all about changes. It was a pretty freaky, very interesting year. The day after HS graduation, I headed for Colorado to be chick singer in a hippie band; lived in a commune in the mountains for awhile. (Hey, it was 1970!) Later moved to Austin, where I got married and had two beautiful, brilliant daughters, Maggie and Nivah, raised organic vegetables, taught Middle Eastern dance at Austin Community College and was chick singer in country swing band. Moved to Dallas, worked for Polygram Records, then to Nashville where I've lived the past 32 years, working in music production, in studios doing session vocals, worked for Warner Bros. Records, then eventually somehow ended up a VP at SESAC (performing r...Expand for more
ights), working with songwriters and publishers. Never having wanted the "industry" career, and being a songwriter and artist-type myself, I left the business end of the music business to release my first cd. I decided that after 50 was the perfect time to begin my life as a pop diva. I know, I know, you can't do that past age 29, you can't. But I come from a long line of late bloomers. Presently finishing up the second one, to be released in the summer. .
I'm blessed to have my daughters, of whom I'm exceedingly proud, live close by along with my grandchildren (and heart's delight), Nick, Zeke, Luke and Hallie; and sons-in-law, John & Kevin, whom I adore. God is great, and I am having the time of my life.
Nashville is home to me now and I love it, but my mom, brothers, nieces, nephews, etc. are still in Texas, so I try to get home at least once a year. Maybe we'll cross paths again. That would be fun.
Peace and love,
Becka
