Reed's Story

After graduating in 74 I attended SCC receiving a 2 yr degree in Criminal Justice and completed FLA Police Ofcr Training while working at Casselberry PD part-time & on the reserves. In January 1977 I married the Love of my Life - LuAnn (Holbrook) and 10 days later headed off with Uncle Sam in the US Army's Military Police (none of the local PD's were hiring at the time). We lived in Oklahoma and Germany over the next 3 yrs and have never regretted a minute of it, as it was a great experience! Upon returning home to Altamonte in 1980 I went to work as a cop in Altamonte and soon started at UCF using my GI Bill to go back to school. Graduated from UCF in Dec. 82 with a BS in Management. Soon we were packed up and off to Oklahoma to start a new chapter in our lives. I went to work for Ford Credit (the finance arm of Ford Motor Company) in Oklahoma City in Jan. 19...Expand for more
83. Job transfers took us to Corpus Christi, Texas and Dearborn, Mich. over the next 25 yrs, and I jumped on an offer of early retirement from Ford in July 2007 as the car business began falling upon very tough times.
FLORIDA HERE WE COME: After 10 years in Michigan running a snow blower, this Florida boy was ready for some fun in the sun! LuAnn & I moved back to Altamonte (yes still married after 31 years!!). Of course we still own the house in Michigan because the market is so bad you can't sell . . . . . but that's a much longer story. Both of our kids still live in Michigan so we visit there regularly.
WHAT'S CHANGED?: I am no longer the quiet type! 25 years of talking to customers and car dealers has brought me out of my shell! So watch out at the class reunion!!! I hope to see many of my old friends there! Drop me a note and let me know what YOU are doing these days!
