Regan's Story
Life
Well, I'm not where I thought I'd be 10 years after graduation, but to be honest, I didn't know where I'd be anyway. The Air Force was awesome, the best thing I could have ever done and it has allowed me to grow into a person I can say I'm proud to be. I was in Maryland for 7 years, but I moved to Tampa, Florida in March 05. I'm a civilian now, even though I don't want to be..no longer in the military but it's ok. I love my career because it lets me use my brain and not get graded on it. Homework never was my thing, but when someone's life depends on the decision I make and information I brief, I realized very quickly that homework never really mattered. I settled in the "other" sunshine state, worked, went to beach bars, sailed and rode motorcycles. Basically, had a pretty kick ass time for 3 years. I just recently moved up to a po'dunk town named Charlottesville, Virginia. The only reason I left warm, sunny Florida in the middle of Feb and winter was because my new job RAWKS! I get to go to Iraq here in a month. I actually want to go..you all know I was never normal..haha!!
Well, I'm not sure what else to say. I have a cute, fast little car (03 VW GTi 1.8t, for those of you who k...Expand for more
now about cars), have a crappy 47 miles (one-way) commute every day, a great roommate who's one of my closest friends and a co-worker and, for those of you who are wondering, still thin (but not scrawny anymore..YAY!). I still go back to Pico every year at least once to visit my Mom and Grandpa. I guess that's enough for now.
Military
Ok, so my life was all about the Air Force for 7 awesome years. After I got out, I took a job working for the Air Force in Tampa. My job now is working for the Army. Slightly different world than I'm used to, but I'm adjusting. Being in the military isn't like a regular full-time job. It IS your life. I loved the Air Force. I was an intelligence analyst and I loved it so much that now I'm a civilian intelligence analyst. The military was the world I belonged in. I had my "I hate the Air Force" days, but not anymore than anyone else in any other job would. I am so glad that I decided to do it. I would do it again if I had to. I was medically discharged, even though I fought to the very last day to stay in. I have to say, I wasn't mentally prepared for that change in my life's plan, but I'm not going just shrug and give up. It'll be just another adventure.
