Hidee! It has been quiet awhile since I have walked the halls of Huffman. I left B'ham in '74 to marry my husband who was in the Navy. After a 23 year career he has retired and we now live in the northeast Ga. mountains. While stationed in San Diego we had twins who are turning 21 in a few weeks.The most interesting place we lived was Cuba. There we did things like take the Girl Scouts to sing Christmas carols to the marines having fence duty. As we sung our songs in the dark (flashlights were forbidden) 4 marines stood around us holding their guns scanning what they could see of the area around us. Now that was a Christmas to remember!
UP DATE 12-28-04: I'm now a grandmother with the second grandchild on the way. I'm also a great aunt! It doesn't seem real. It just seems like yesterday that my two were preschoolers. I keep waiting for life to slow down, isn't it ...Expand for more
suppose to start around now? I get over to B'ham several times a year. All the nieces and nephews are getting married.
While here in Ga. we have managed to collect 3 dogs, a cat (for a couple of years)and a parakeet. My son had a flying squirrel for 5 years that would get out of the cage and run across you in the middle of the night. Being close to the same size of a field mouse you can imagine what went through your mind as he ran across your face. My son is still at home attending night college in Gainesville while working full time close by. My daughter is running her own household. That is just so hard to believe!! She and her husband bought a home in the most rural part of the county. They are on Piedmont Mt. where not only do you have an abundance of deer but the bear play in the yard too! I try not to think about my grandkids playing outside a whole lot.
