Regina's Story

Life has been an interesting journey filled with joy, excitement, success, accomplishment, disappointment, lots of laughter and lots of tears and challenge...but most of all, personal growth. As most of you know, I married right out of high school, moved to the Bay Area in Northern California and had two sons. Because I married for all of the wrong reasons, that did not last. I got involved with a guy who I never married but, together we raised my two children and his daughter. I spent 20 years in beautiful CA experiencing life. I modeled for a while, went to college for a while, and began my professional career. I've never known anyone to say that they wanted to be a sales person when they grew up, but I stumbled into sales, discovered I was good at it, and was quickly promoted into executive management and spent almost 30 years of my career in sales. I've worked mostly in high-tech companies like, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett Packard. I've had many awesome opportunities throughout my career. I've traveled to many places within the US and international places like, Bali and Singapore. I've presented to many CEO's and other C level individuals; I've hired, terminated, trained and coached many employees over the years. I've also experienced many failures and disappointments throughout my career but I've learned from every one of them. I've acknowledged and corrected what needed correction and I have moved on to bigger and more challenging opportunities. My mother came to live with me in 1988-89. She took ill in 1990 which left her needing more and more fulltime care. I quit my job and became her primary care provider until her death in 1996 with the help of my children, sisters, nieces and nephews. During that time, we still needed to eat so I started my own sales and marketing consulting firm. I was very successful as a business owner and was also able to maintain the care that my mother needed. After her death, I needed a change and decided to go back into corporate. I landed at Sun Microsystems who moved me to Denver Colorado where I have lived for the past 10 years. If you've never been surrounded by a mountain range like the Rockies, you don't know what you are missing. They are absolutely breath taking. I very much miss the waters of the Pacific, but the clean air and breath...Expand for more
taking views of the Rockies are pretty special. 20 years after my first marriage, I remarried in 2001 to a man who unfortunately refused to be faithful. After being separated for the past year, my divorce to him will be final in Sept., so I'm transitioning again. Now that I am older and wiser, my priorities have shifted again. I am no longer pursuing corporate career attainment. Peace of mind, family unity, leaving a legacy and an inheritance for my children and grandchildren, helping others and fulfilling my full potential through utilizing every God given talent and skill is what I plan to spend the rest of my life pursuing. My sons live here in Denver as does my grandson. My granddaughter is about 4 hours southeast of Denver. My granddaughter will be 8 this year and my grandson will be 2 next year. They are a joy and a blessing in my life. My stepdaughter still lives in CA whom I have a good relationship with. I might mention that another key area of growth in my life over the past 10 years was my pursuit in developing a deeper relationship with God, studying and understanding his word (Torah), and discovering my Hebrew roots. This area of my life has been a true awakening. It also has been one of the most difficult times in my life. As many of you know, the closer you get to God, the more all Hell breaks lose. If you are married, you really need to be "prayed up" and the husband needs to be a strong Godly, spiritual head of the household. If you are single, you need to have a strong support base of Godly women and men respectively around you to encourage you to stay the course. There is nothing like possessing wisdom, knowledge and understanding of who you are in Christ (Yeshua). My desire to help people discover and reach their full potential in life, has culminated in me establishing a non-profit to do just that. Choose Life Inc. helps previously incarcerated persons develop life skills to help them become productive members of society. We also work with ex-military in a similar manner. We teach and train job readiness to help individuals from job search, to resume development, to interviewing skills to job placement. We also work with youth teaching and mentoring them. Well, now you have the past 30 year journey. I am excited for what the next 30+ years will bring.
