Rejean's Story

Reggie, born September 7, 1956, in Sturgeon Falls, ON, Canada. At a young age growing up in Sturgeon Falls, ON, Canada, Reggie was as focused on music as the day is long. His dad, Yvon, was a drummer for a swing band in Timmins, ON, back in the 40's and early 50's. In those days the old gramophones were sounding out swing, rockabilly, and rock and roll. With Reggie's older brother Ray taking a shine to the drums, and his younger brother Gilles, playing the bass, house parties and family gatherings became pretty common at their place of residence. In 1975, Reggie relocated to Timmins, ON, Canada. He started playing in a dynamic and explosive rock band. Although he loved the opportunity to play alongside of these serious musicians, it just wasn't his calling. While both his brothers Ray and Gilles playing in blues, country and rock bands, Reggie remained true and pure to 50's rock and roll era. Whenever the brothers got together, the party music theme was focused mainly on the old Rock and Roll. They sounded great together. So they decided to have a casual meeting at a local coffee shop in Sturgeon Falls, ON, to discuss their musical intentions. That day the brothers decided to merge as a three (3) piece band. Still to this day, the name " REGGIE AND THE HUBCAPS" rings a bell to many who followed. Their ...Expand for more
first appearance as a trio was June 15th, 1990 in North Bay, ON. As time went by, Ray and Gilles had to relocate to other cities, but Gilles remained as bass player for the time being. Reggie was determined to find a replacement drummer to keep the Hubcaps name alive. Searching for that position, he met up with a drummer from North Bay, ON, named Billy MacInnis. In 1994, after brother Gilles left, Reggie recruited a bass player/piano player by the name Mark De-Sousa who was formerly from Toronto, ON. This new trio delivered a much appreciated drive and sparkle to music. So he decided to add a fourth member to see what would come of it. That member was a blues guitarist from Callendar, ON, by the name Tom Boudreau whose style of playing brought a total blues flavor to the band's sound. "REGGIE AND THE HUBCAPS" were rolling and it was a smoking Rock and Roll Band. Again as time would have it, Tom had to leave to cater to other important commitments. The trio were use to having a fourth member. So Reggie went on to meet with an acquaintance/local guitarist Dennis Lafontaine. After the meeting, Reggie found his fourth member. Dennis's styles of playing were diverse, and fit right in. This time around the groups' sounds are true to the era. The bonus in this group is that everyone can sing "DOO WOOP"!
