Renata Revilla:

CLASS OF 1980
San jose, CA

Renata's Story

I'd be surprised if more than a dozen people even remember me from the class of 1980. Then another handful in the class of '79. I moved there in the last two months of my Junior year sand then graduated at PHHS. But having gone to 3 other high schools (no I didn't get kicked out, my Dad retired from the military and it took a bit to find his place) I liked Piedmont Hills. Having come from New England, and then Sunnyvale high (scary!) no offense but I worked for my grades quite a bit more in the East. But "it's all good". The jocks and popular people had all the friends they wanted or needed. I did make friends, some good ones, but I always wonder what track I would've been on had I been more stable. I'm saying this because I happen to be able to adapt and make friends, but please tell your children to reach out to new kids in their ...Expand for more
schools. If they come from somewhere far away, they may wear Dickey pants, for example, because it was preppy at their old school, but it is considered cholo (sp?) here....that kind of thing. My hispanic neighbor asked me why I was wearing Cholo pants. It's a rough world and different now than when we were in HS, but karma is karma. There are kids that can't adapt as well and are forced by circumstances to go to a new school. Just a thought. I have one child (after 13 years of marriage, we received a surprise indeed), a seven year old, so I'm sure that the point is mute for most of you, if you have children, they are much older. But there were so many people I would've like to connect with but, I knew the parameters of my reality. I wonder where all of you are now! Thank God we're forty something - there are no parameters. Cool huh!?
