Rene's Story
Life
I'm a live performance person with studio recording, deep underground film scores and stage work thrown in. I teach performance and did shows for challenged children at schools here in Texas.
Workplace
Lawrence-West 1988-2008
Fact is, I backed into the company as an investor only. I took over when the senior partner died (my half brother, Stephen West) in 1999. Lawrence-West was the third entrant in the EDI arena. Lawrence-West closed up shop in 2008.
Performance 1955-
I've consistently maintained my live performance work throughout the years and I've done movie scores, TV scores, stage production, musicals, ensemble work (all genres with the exception of rap*), web and radio under my own name or pseudonyms (to protect the gui...Expand for more
lty).
Performance Coach 1967-
I teach performance and occasionally make it into the studio to record projects with or for various artists and students.
I've been called one of the finest acoustic finger style guitarists in Texas (by drunks and the mentally unreliable) though I've never claimed to be a guitarist, just a performance coach and sometime performer. I recently played bass with Atomic Face Punch out of Kerrville, Texas. Bass. Go figure.
Now "mostly retired" though I still have my heart in coaching - I'm to dumb ta quit.
When I was at Staples, I lived above the Merritt Superette on Main Street.
*A friend of mine reminded me I was involved in Ross For Boss, a rap political composition when he was running for president.
