Renee's Story

Life On the family home front, my husband, son, and myself will be moving sometime this summer...location unknown at this moment. Hobbies include: Reading (right now reading Amy Tan's Saving the Fish From Drowning), listening to music, and having Angel/Buffy marathons with the little sisters. School I went to Irmo Middle School in Columbia, SC and would have gone to Irmo High School if I didn't move to CA, hence those two schools are listed. My fondest memories of the high school years centers around 3 girls living in Circle J. Swimming all afternoon, playing "barefoot tennis", *trying* (and failing) to learn how to play street hockey, going to a hockey game (first and only time), watching Monty Python a billion times (can't forget the Llama!), *somebody* driving their mom's car without permission (no names mentioned), laughing about a dropped iron that caused a dent in the living room floor. And of course, our shared memories of the 1994 earthquake. Other fond memories include "The Group", the Bio Bush, "Ireland Forever!" , the countless football games, photo class, dancing the Polka in the rain, and Big Blue. College I am attending CS...Expand for more
U Fresno as a junior. This summer I will become an official "dirt digger"... meaning that I will be doing my first fieldwork as an archaeologly student. 3 weeks camping?! Yeah, my path to education isn't the "norm". Military My experience with the military is as a wife. My husband and I were married in South Korea (his first installation after AIT) and spent the first 9 months of our marriage in seperate countries. We then moved to New York for 18 months and while there he had two TDYs and a short 5 month deployment to Kuwait. It's been roughly a year and half since his ETS date and he has already joined the Reserves, this time he might be going to Arizona for AIT. I took advantage of moving around, especially in New York. I traveled through Canada (got to practice my French) and went to see Ground Zero. Military life didn't bother me (deployments became the norm for our family) but the freakin' snow in New York was an adjustment. -30 degrees and 14 feet of snow! This So Cal gal sorely missed 80 degree weather and sunshine! And our Californian baby didn't seem too fond of the cold white stuff, either. He much prefers playing in outside in the warm weather.
