Renee's Story
Life
Quick update..I retired July 1st 2022 and have been enjoying time at home. My youngest daughter is still home with us and we've been on some fun day trip adventures. Hubby, her and I visited family in Hawaii together and I got to go back solo in 2023. We also spent some fun time with my eldest daughter in LA. We're super excited she's moved to Charlotte and adore her partner. He's a cinematographer and youngest and I got to hang on location in Cincinnati with them for Thanksgiving while hubby was in England with his brother and his family. Life is still good!
Let's see....after attending 3 high schools I went briefly to Jr. College in Alabama but enjoyed acting in the Community Theater more than I enjoyed class. Decided after living all over the country growing up an Army Brat, the rural environs of Alabama were not for me.
I lived in Atlanta for several years. Worked at the Atlanta Apparal Mart, Enterprise Car Rental (before "they'll pick you up, unless you were SOMEBODY) then for Borg-Warner. I got married and had a beautiful daughter, Helen, in 1982. Moved to Columbia, SC in 1984. Did the full time wife and Mom thing until 1985, then I became a single working Mom. I worked at a very large aparment community for many years, acted in Police Traning films and was a magician's assistant to help make ends meet.
Once I out grew the "filler" jobs I started working for Merrill Lynch.
I met a great guy about this same time and my daughter was in 5th grade. We got married just before Helen started High School and moved to Virginia. It was tough leaving my job a M...Expand for more
errill but it ended up being a great move. My husband Earl is a chemical engineer and at that time worked for Allied Signal Corp. I lucked out and ended up working for Allied too, though no where near Earl. I worked for his bosses! After we had been in VA for 5 years, I was ready to come back to South Carolina. The financial advisors I worked with at Merrill Lynch had kept in touch with me the entire time we were in VA and kept asking me to come back. So I did! Little did I know when it was decided we would all move back here, I was expecting a baby! Here I was, an empty nester- Helen was in college at VA Tech, Earl and I had the freedom to travel, I was working out and getting in shape - - well, you see what shape I ended up in...gestating!
Emily was born in 2001 and is one of the best surprises I've ever had.
Through all of the transitions of moving and having my second "only" child, I managed to get my Series 7 and Series 66 Securities Licenses, be the office manager of a team of 8 stock brokers and 3 assistants, become the Branch Office Coach for the entire office and somehow managed not to pass out from exhaustion on my way home every night!
I "retired" as of 4/29/2006 for about a year! We moved to Riggold, GA and I was able to play full time Mom again! But, alas, I am now working again at Merrill Lynch in Chattanooga.
I wish all of you that touched my life inately know you touched my life and that I still think of you all with fondness.
