Renee's Story
Life
I've been married to Mike Paulsell (aka Mike Edwards) since July 14, 1984. We met while both working at KTTS radio. We live in Ozark, Missouri where we've lived pretty much our entire married life. We spent our 20th wedding anniversary with our entire family in Florida enjoying the beach in 2004.
We have three children. Our son, Christopher, is married to Lindsay (Hogan) from Tulsa, OK. They met while attending Drury College where Christopher played basketball and Lindsay played soccer. Lindsay received her Masters at SMSU this summer and Christopher his Masters from Drury this winter. Lindsay is a teacher and soccer coach at Marshfield and Christopher is currently on leave from coaching basketball and teaching at Conway following a fall in Dec 2005. He plans to return to coaching and teaching as soon as possible. They live in Springfield and have four wonderful dogs!
Our daughter Alyssa is a senior at Ozark High School. This curly headed beauty is a great student-4.0! She's also a basketball player for Ozark. The Ozark Lady Tigers won the 2006 State Championship in basketball in March 2006!! Alyssa was excited to be a part of this championship team. She's involved in several HS clubs including the National Honor Society. Alyssa is now almost 18 years old (she reminds me that 2006 is the year she can vote!) and she is a great young lady! To fininsh out her senior year, my husband and I are co-chairs of her Project Graduation. I can't believe she's a SENIOR!
Our blondie daughter Brooke is also a really beautiful girl. She's 13 and a 7th grader at Ozark Junior High School and loves school. She's active in Student Council and was picked as a 7th grade editor of the yearbook at her school. She's also a stat girl for the football team! She loves basketball. She plays on a 7th grade competitive team, MO Lady Lightning, and will be playing for Ozark Lady Bling and then the Ozar...Expand for more
k Junior High team will hold tryouts in October, so we hope to be attending many basketball games this year between both girls!
As you can see, much of our life revolves around attending various activities with our kids!
We all love to travel as well. Summer 2006 saw us on the beach for a week in Destin, Florida. Some of our other favorite spots are Cancun and Denver-we love the Rockies! (Sun AND snow).
We volunteer throughout the community including Victory Mission, St Judes Children's Research Hospital, American Diabetes Association, and our PTA, among others.
My husband Mike has spent the last 7 years as a radio announcer with KOSP radio. He's 1/2 of the M & M Boys morning show. (I really did marry a Glendale guy!) :)
I've spent the last 12 years as the Missouri/Arkansas Executive Director of the American Diabetes Association.
Workplace
I have spent much of my career in the public relations field. I worked at KBUG, KICK and KTTS Radio for 10 years as an announcer and Public Service Director.
I moved to the world of banking where I handled mortgage loans for about 5 years. The public relations bug was still in me there and I found my best work was calling on realtors for thier business. This was a "fish out of water" job, but I learned so much about finance and banking!
I moved to another bank and worked with marketing the senior customer program. A very fun job taking the elite banking customers on trips and planning parties and luncheons...was I paid for that???
I volunteered for the American Diabetes Association while in that position and when the ADA staff position came open I jumped at the opportunity to work in a field to make a real difference in people's lives. I'm currently their Executive Director serving both Missouri and Arkansas.
In 2002 I was honored to have been selected as one of the Most Influential Women in Business in Springfield.
