While I was in High School, I was pretty much with just a few friends, Martha Duran, Juanita Hurtado and Faye Garcia. They were all Westsiders. I was from southwest Denver. My boyfriends were Bob Martinez, Danny Lucero and Dennis "Jumbo" Padilla. I married Dennis when I was 21 years old. Being in the concert choir with Mr. Fluckey was the best thing about high school. My parents moved to Lakewood during the semester break of my Senior year and since we were in another county I had to finish school at Alameda High. I hated it there, since I didn't make any friends there. The only thing that saved me was that I didn't have enough credits to graduate at Alameda, but I did have enough to graduate from West; hence the school districts agreed to let me graduate with my class at West.
