Reverend Mary E.'s Story
Life
I graduated from WHS in 1953, and since
that time have lived in Albuquerque, New
Mexico (1966-1988; 1994-Present).
Before moving to Denver, Colorado in
1988, I completed a five-year course of
study at the University of New Mexico,
Albuquerque, and graduated with a double
major--English and Religious Studies;
also Magna Cum Laude in General Honors.
I completed a four-year Master of
Divinity degreed program at the Iliff
School of Theology, Denver, in 1992.
From August 1990-August 1991, I was an
urban ministry intern in Roxbury
(Boston), Massachusetts, based on a
$25,000.00 felowship awarded to me by
the Fund for Theological Education, New
York, New York.
After completion of seminary, I was
ordained by the United M...Expand for more

served a two-year pastorate at the Goode
Centennial United Methodist Church,
Commerce City, Colorado, and returned to
Albuquerque in June 1994 due to illness.
I completed the chaplaincy training
program at the Presbyterian Hospital in
1996, remained on disability until I
returned to work on a part-time basis in
September 2000.
I am presently chaplain at two long-term
care facilities, under the same
ownership. My sons, Allan (Los Angeles,
California), and Arnold (Albuquerque,
New Mexico), are now 44 years old and 43
years old, respectively. My youngest
son (Jaiya Jordan John, Phd.), was
adopted by a white family in Los Alamos,
New Mexico, and is now living in
Baltimore, Maryland.
