Revonda's Story
Life
I am originally from Maryland and lived in West Virginia for seven years. I played music since I was four years old starting with the piano and then moved to the fiddle. The day after graduation, I returned to Maryland and worked on a ranch. Then, I moved to Statesville, North Carolina where my cousin, Angie Bowles, and I shared an apartment. I stayed there for a little while and then moved to Greensboro, NC. I graduated from the New York City based John Casablancas School of Modeling and was a professional model. It was during this time that I auditioned for the soap opera 'One Life to Live'. I modeled for a while and then, I came back to Statesville, and married Lonnie Roberts (IHS 1981). He pastors a church in Statesville and we have the best church members that anyone could ever ask for. Most of them are from McDowell County, so it's really like home away from home.
I won a college scholarship and majored in computer programming. I got really bored with that, so I got back into music and began to front my own band, Revonda Roberts & Harvest Wind. We recorded our first cd in 2002 for family and friends. Well, that cd landed in the hands of a record label that offered us a contract. We are now with ...Expand for more
Lamon Records with offices in Nashville, TN, London, England and Charlotte, NC. We travel all over the United States and our music is played world wide. In 2007 we were booked at Silver Dollar City and at the Lincoln Center in New York City. We have had several songs on the charts and have appeared on television. Most of the songs we record are songs I wrote. In 2007 we were nominated for Bluegrass Album of the Year and also Special Event Album of the year. Currently, we are up for the SPBGMA Bluegrass Awards 2008 Bluegrass Gospel Group of the Year - Contemporary. We have recorded a total of four cd's and are getting ready to head to the studio to record a new one.
Classmates will not allow me to post my band's website address here. So, just go to google and do a search for Revonda Roberts and Harvest Wind website. (revondarobertsandharvestwind.com)
I have changed a lot since my junior and senior year in high school and have been in church since 1992. It was definitely the best decision I ever made in my life. God spared my life in May 2007. If you do a google search look for Harvest Wind band crash.
I own my own publishing company and am a huge songwriter. I travel with my band and give music lessons.
