Rhonda's Story
Life
In 1995, my husband and I moved to Roswell, New Mexico (our son Steele was only 5-years-old). We love "this Roswell place" so much, we really don't want to leave.
Our son Steele is attending the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell (Roger Staubach and Owen Wilson attended NMMI) and will graduate from high school in 2008. Since Steele lives on campus (it's less than a mile from home), we sometimes have a ton of boys at our home to eat a home-cooked meal.
Steele is nearing graduation this next May and has applied to attend the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. We should know something by April 1st! He is hoping to be admitted, but they may ask him to prep a year at NMMI which he will do because the education and possibilities are enormous by attending the Coast Guard Academy. We are so proud of him! If he is accepted and goes into the Academy this year, he will leave around the 1st of July for a 2 month summer course at sea. It is an amazing opportunity, but he sure will be far away from the desert of New Mexico!

New Mexico and I'm their Marketing Representative. Since Roswell is 200 miles from anywhere, that means I travel quite a bit each week. I love my job and the company and people I work with. It is very rewarding.
My husband is disabled with degenerative disc disease, but he holds down the fort at home and is going to be raising Yorkshire Terrier puppies as a hobby (I twisted his arm on this one, he'd rather be raising German shorthair pointers!!!).
My mother and step-dad live in Zachary, LA right outside of Baton Rouge and my mom is in good health. My step-dad has been fighting throat cancer but is doing "okay" at this point. My brother, Chris, is living in Tennessee. He's a new grand-dad and so proud.
The main thing is we have a wonderful church home - Grace Community Church -- and I am very active. I sing in the choir and on the Praise Team. We have gone to church there since it first met in a home on Steele's birthday in 1998. We started with around 90 members and now have about 1500. We are blessed! God continues to care for us as we travel through this thing called life!
