Rhonda's Story
Life
I got married right out of high school to Randy Mayberry. (Jeff's brother) We have been married for 27 yrs. We have 3 children, 2 daughters ages 15 and 24 and one son, 19 who passed away December 2006. We also have a grandson who is 6. We have lived all over the US. Randy was an airman in the Air Force working as an electrician on F-4s at Luke AFB in Phoneix AZ until he got his Bachelor's Degree and became an officer. We moved to Sacramento CA in 1983 for him to receive his training as a Navigator in the KC 135 Air Refueling plane. After there, we went to McConnell AFB in Wichita KS in 1984. We then moved to Grifffiss AFB in upstate NY in 1987. He served several months in the Gulf in 1989-1990. After there we moved to Little Rock AFB in AR in 1993 where he received his Master's degree.There Randy transferred to the C 130 Cargo plane. We moved to Texas to Randolph AFB in 1997. on the C 130 Flight Simulator Curriculum. He is now working on his PHd. I have been a stay at home mom. Randy has traveled the world, unfortunately, the family never got the chance to be stationed overseas. We have been in Texas over 10 years now and plan to call it home. We have had a lot of fun times and met a lot of different people from all over the world. The Air Force was a tough life at many times, especially because Randy was gone so much, and I had to be the only parent and house manager, but it was one worth experiencing. I chose to stay home with my kids. It was a choice I am glad I made, even though I know it isn't for everyone! Some days I wondered what I was thinking! I take care of my grandson now when there isn't school. My mother moved in with us in 1999. I also have a lot of responsibility taking care of her. I don't have time for a job now! So, there it is, short and sweet, my life over the last 27 yrs. There's been a lot more but who has the time???
