Rhonda's Story

I attended Oscoda schools from 1963 until December 1969. My dad was in the Air Force and when he came back from Nam we were transfered to Virginia, so I didn't get to graduate from OHS but considerate it MY only High School. Moving during the middle of my junior year was very hard (leaving all my friends and a boyfriend wasn't fun) and starting at a new school was not my idea of a great school year. While at OHS I played in the band (3rd clarinet-I wasn't very good) and particpated with Forensics and Debate. . I had a small group of friends that I hung out with at lunch time. After my move I stopped playing in the band (it wasn't the same with a new director) I didn't make too many new friends, but after breaking up with Randy, I did find a new boyriend. Got married after graduatin and over time had four children. My husband joined the Army in 1972 and we spent time in Georgia, Germany, Kentucky and Arizona.Got divorced in 1990 and moved back to Virginia to be closer to my parents. Found a job in Shenandaoh County working for the county ( I just retired from there in March). I worked there for 20 years. Got remarried in 2005 to a...Expand for more
wonderful man I met at church and we are doing well. I have 8 grandchildren thanks to my 2 sons and one daughter. (My oldest is 17 in September and the youngest just turned 1 in June.) We were hit by the tornado in April and my poor husband has been working ever since to get our property cleaned up. We suffered structural damage to our house and out building, and lost approximately 200 trees. We also lost our camping trailer-just received the title for it the day before the tornado hit. I just thank God that we were not hurt and did not suffer like those in Alabama and other areas. As I told my husband-losing a few trees is nothing compared to those who lost loved ones. That's about all-it would take much more space and time to catch everyone up on 40 years of living, needless to say it has been an adventure, with lots of ups and downs. I hope to hear from some of my old friends-I spent time yesterday looking at old yearbooks ( I was suppose to be sorting through things to get rid of or things to try and sell at the Route 11 Yard Crawl - a major yard sale that runs the entire length of Shenandoah County and into Frederick County)
