hile in junior-high. Not to be different, not to get attention, but solely to get one less penmanship demerit from my teachers. My writing was and is lousy; they lowered my grade for every bad letter on a paper. Eliminating the "k" took care of one minor infraction. In recent years I've been amused to see others spell it the same way.
