Ricardo (Ricky)'s Story
Life

Workplace
It's hard to seperate the different bios since they all overlap. LetÂs see, where do I start trying to fill in 20 years.
I have been working at Sandia Labs for ~6yrs now as a federal contractor. We build ICÂs, the same thing as Intel except the applications are different, satellites and WOMD. My organization is a technology development group, Radiation Hardened CMOS group. I ended up here after working 6 years at Philips Semiconductors and realizing I didnÂt want to do shift work (12 hr days) anymore after I got married. As it turned out the change was a blessing as the job I left was eliminated a few months later and the plant shut down just over a year later.
Speaking of getting married; I met my wife playing softball after navigating through many, many, many, womenÂ
well not really, but it adds fluff to the story. Anyhow, we got engaged after 2 months of dating and we were married 10 months later. I know it sounds a little crazy but itÂs true. We lived on AlbuquerqueÂs West Side for 4 years then decided to move to...Expand for more
Chimayo since my wife had been commuting to Los Alamos Labs for over a year. After 8 months in Chimayo, we werenÂt sure we wanted to stay up in Northern New Mexico. Then on my way to work one morning I was involved in an accident just South of Santa Fe. I lost control of my vehicle doing 75mph and I flipped my car. The following weekend my wife and I were looking at houses in Albuquerque and we ended up buying a house next to Bellehaven Elementary, just blocks from where I grew up. Funny how things work..
After a couple of months in the house we went on our first 2 week vacation since going on our honeymoon. We went on a cruise through the Panama Canal and lo and behold we came back with 2 souvenirs. After trying for almost 5 years and even seeing a specialist 3 years earlier with no luck, we were finally blessed with kids. So the story goes on that we left from San Diego and somewhere around Cabo San LucasÂ
thus, our boys are named Diego and Lucas.
Finally, in July of 2006 we had a beautiful baby girl and it seems it has been non-stop ever since.
Well thatÂs the short and quick version. I hope everyone is well!! Feel free to send me an email to rhruiz at sandia dot gov.
