Rich's Story
I joined the Navy shortly after graduating from high school and attending VC for two years. May not have been the best time to join a military branch as this was at the height of the Vietnam War. I served in the Navy for 30 years, 5 months, 16 days and 8 hours...but who was counting. Following retirement from the Navy I went right back to work serving my country in a federal service position for 16 more years. With 30+ years active duty in the Navy and 16+ years in a Federal Service position with the Navy it seems like I have been married to the Navy forever. LOL
I enjoyed my time in the Navy and was fortunate enough to be stationed in 4 overseas locations and have visited over 36 foreign countries.

d then went back overseas again.
Sad to say during all my Navy years I didn’t go back to Victoria as often as I probably could have. My dad and mom along with 3 brothers have all passed away now so haven’t had a lot of compelling reasons to visit Victoria. However, during last visit, I did notice that Victoria has really, really grown over the many years since I graduated.
I’m now retired from the Navy and from Federal Service and reside in Northeast Florida. The fishing and weather is great here. I spend a lot of time “spoiling” my grandkids. I’m just amazed at how fast they grow.
Since I have travelled extensively with the Navy overseas I would like to do some traveling in the U.S. and eventually hope to get back to Victoria for a high school reunion one of these years.
