Richard's Story
I've had a varied and interesting life, met many interesting and unique folks, worked in many professions and learned many skills. Worked as a Medical Tech in the old hospital, as a Psychiatric Assistant in a mental Institution, been a paper carrier, a/c installer, salesman, stock room manager at Kmart, candle maker, delivery driver and, later, area manager for Airborne Express, private duty home medical aid, grounds keeper, car washer and professional driver. (Not necessarily in that order.)
I've met folks from all walks of life from the very poor to the very wealthy, from the very intelligent to the kinda stupid. I spent most of my time working in the medical and psychiatric fields and learned very well that the mentally ill aren't necessarily confined to institutions.
I believe in Darwinism and the Theory of Creation at the same time. (See. You can't tell a primitive people about molecular structures, cellular division, genetics and random mutation if they don't know how babies are made, what is in the sky and never been more than 20 miles or so beyond their homes. So you dumb down...Expand for more
the information into a simple story.)
I've met likable crooks and scary criminals. Wonderful people and those whom I believe have no right to take up space. I've met regular folks who are, IMO, heroes and heroes who are basically fakes.
Politics annoy me, since common sense and doing the greater good seem to get lost in corruption, self interest and the desire for power.
Remember, the average Joe and Josephine working to raise a family, have some luxuries and peace usually tend NOT to go and start wars until they're told by leaders who they hate. Leaders start wars. Most folks, if left alone, tend to get along no matter the race, creed or nationality.
Never married, though I came close a few times. (Rule of thumb: NEVER fall for someone crazier than you are.)
Now and then I like to think about how I've lived through some of the biggest changes in technology, society and discoveries in history. Often, I reflect on the fact that there's a lot of things I know now that I wish I had never learned and a lot of things I wish I had learned.
You tend to understand more as you grow older.
