Ricky's Story
I began my Air Traffic Control career in the United States Air Force in 1975. After I graduated from the United States Air Force Air Traffic Control school at Kessler AFB in Biloxi MS I was assigned to McGuire AFB in New Jersey. During my four years at McGuire AFB I completed all requirements and successfully achieved the position of Radar Controller.
I joined the FAA 1981 as a Air Traffic Controller at New York Center.I was awarded the honor of being the First New York Center controller hired after the 1981 strike to reach Full Performance Level after completing a 600 hour course in Radar position certification.I also became a full performance level controll...Expand for more

In September 1993 I transferred to the Air Traffic Control System Command Center located in the Federal Aviation Administration Headquarters in Washington DC.I helped transition from the D.C location to the Command Centers present Location in Herndon Va
I now hold the position of National Traffic Management Officer as well as National Planner directing the activities of traffic management specialist in developing and implementing national programs designed to control the flow and movement of flights in the National Airspace System. Iam also seen daily at 6:40am on the Weather Channel as a on Air Talent and Travel Weather Expert.
