Richard's Story

Life Currently my life right now is pretty status quo and feel'n good. I have been with IBM for the past ten years, but I have been in the computer industry forever. I am a project manager with IBM and generally I am on the road four days per week, but this past year I have been working from home, so my commute is to come down stairs, pass by the coffee pot and into my home office for most of the day. It's been the best. My wife of 34 years retired from teaching this year (after 33 years in the classroom) and is making the adjustment into retirement nicely. We have three children (two boys and a girl) who have all completed college and they are off on their own. Our boys both have Construction Engineering degrees and our daughter is a Doctor of Physical Therapy. (I love saying 'Doctor'.) The kids are spread across the US, with our oldest, Ryan, the closest, living just down the road in the west valley of Phoenix. He is single now but courting a nice girl. Brandon, our middle guy lives in San Diego and just got married this year to a great girl. Both the boys are Superintendents in land development for major construction companies. Jordan, our daughter, lives in Nashville, TN and works at the Vanderbilt Medical Center. She is single, but her current boyfriend is a so...Expand for more
ng writer, who has written a couple of songs that are coming out on Garth Brooks' new CD. The other night Jordan had the opportunity to sit in on Garth's new music video and later went to Garth's home and hangout. The rest of the family is all envious for sure! That's about it, Ohh...except for the dog and cat and they are just a dog and a cat. My favorite time of the year is coming up here in Flagstaff, AZ. I think falls is our best season because the days are still relatively warm and the nights cool off dramatically. I enjoy hunting and fishing and just being outdoors this time of year. I find a lot of pleasure in standing on the shore or paddling up one of our canyon lakes in my kayak hoping to catch a big old lunker on my fly rod. However, it seems like I do a lot more hopin' and paddlin' than catching though. My Mom and Dad and oldest sister, Betty, have passed on and I have one sister, Kaye, who lives in the Washington D.C. area. My wife, Penny, has most of her family around and her sister, who she is very close to, lives in Lake Havasu City, AZ, and we see each other pretty often. My Brother-in-Law is one of my favorite hunting and camping buddies, next to my boys. So that's about it from my end. I hope to see a lot of folks at our 40th reunion next summer.
