Richard's Story
From: Dick Bishop - I'm still very active in the Sons of the American Revolution (check out NCSSAR - The North Carolina Society for photos etc) and the MOLLUS (Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States), where I serve as the State Color Guard Commander and a Council - IN -Chief respectively ....My brother Tony says I retired from the Regular Army after 21 and and a half years just join an older unit ... I am a Life Member of the Special Forces Association and served as Editor of "The Drop" for 10 years. I was present at McKeller's Pond at Fort Bragg when John F. Kennedy visited in October 1961 and in his closing remarks, authorized the "Green Beret" as the official head gear for Special Forces.. I have served in Southeast Asia, Japan, Okinawa, Vietnam, Greece, Turkey, Hawaii, My military duty included two tours in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg as both a SP4 and later as a Captain after attending OCS at the ripe old ag...Expand for more
e of 31.. I have been back to Tulsa for several Class Reunions - only missed two, the frist because I was in Vietnam and the 2nd because I was attending another event. I recently completed my tour of duty as the North Carolina Society Color Guard Commander and will now only handle Marquis de Lafayette Chapter Color Guard events- Cheers ti all ,,, I attended the Leadership Conference of the NSSAR in Louisville, KY where I serve on several Committees and will attend a Meeting of the Virginia MOLLUS this Saturday in Richmond , VA - my Grandson Zachery is currently in USAF OTS and will attend Navagator School upon completion. Zach is also a George Washington Fellow and a member of the MOLLUS (Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. RDB
