Richard's Story

Life (When I was at De Anza I was Rick) I don't know how many of my classmates would consider me their friend, but I have good memorys of a lot of you. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I've been married to a great lady for 25 years, and love her very much. No kids. I manage the largest heavy duty towing company in the state. (We tow big trucks exclusively) I'm very church oriented, but wasn't always. I'll always be a De Anza Don/Californian. I still love El Sobrante. I make it to the Bay Area a couple of times a year to visit a little and fish for sturgeon and stripers a lot. It would be great to hear how every body turned out. I,ve never been to a reunion, but that doesn't mean I didn't want to go. Its kind of a long way. My biggest peeve about people is their complaining and waiting for others to make their life better. GO DONS. Workplace I started driving tow trucks as a fill-in job between carpentry jobs. I loved it. I have always loved to drive, and I had a good boss. Driving tow trucks allowed a lot of freedom while making a decent living, and can require a lot of training to be good. I became well respe...Expand for more
cted by my peers and other employers and was constantly getting better job offers. When I moved to Utah, it took no time at all to establish towing as a career here. I worked hard and became one of the highest paid operators in the state before moving into management. I am now a corporate officer of the largest, and most respected, heavy duty companies in the Intermountain area. Though I got into towing to drive, and now all I drive is a keyboard, I still love the business. I've been elected to the Utah Professional Towing Assn. Board of Directors, and am currently the Treasurer ( 3rd time in 13 years). I have spent a lot of time at the State Capitol lobbying to make the towing profession more honorable and a more respected part of the service industry. I have helped get laws passed for the protection of the public and the industry. I work with the Governors Motor Carrier Advisory Board to institute laws and direct rule changes for the transportation industry in Utah. I like what I do for a living, but am also looking forward to retirement. I will probably stay with the transportation industry even after retirement.
