Richard's Story

Life: I was born in beautiful downtown Maywood, went to Ben Davis and Purdue. Excitement unlimited. I worked at Harlin Brothers teaching guitar during high school and played in a rock band while at Purdue. Work: After college, I joined Bell Laboratories and spent the next 33 years with various AT&T (subsequently Lucent Technologies) organizations designing/manufacturing telephones, FAX machines, answering machines, etc. in Indy, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Shreveport, LA, and North Andover, MA. Retirement: I took early retirement from Lucent in 2001 as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. That title and $4.50 will get you a plain coffee at Starbuck's. engineer. To keep busy after retirement, I did maintenance three days/week for three beachfront hotels in beautiful York Beach, Maine (Best job I ever had.), as well as doing some volunteer work and an occasional consulting stint over in SE Asia with old associates. Finally, in 2008, I have finally given in and moved to Fort Myers, Florida, with my lovely wife of 28 years, Lynn. Life is good! Finally, again. Lynn and I have traveled over much of the Northern Hemisphere since 2008. Especially enjoyed European river cruises and the Caribbean. And I FINALLY got my Jag. Parents and grandparents beat into my head that one should save for when you get old. I'M OLD, and life is still good!
