Richard Case:

CLASS OF 1966
Simsbury, CT

Richard's Story

Life 01-02-06 Greetings, I've been married for 3 gloriously happy years, (21 all together.) My wife, Marilyn and I live in Latham, NY (near Albany). We have one son, Zachary, who is a sophomore at RIT, and another son, Nathaniel who is a senior in high school. We live in a messy house, drive old cars, but have money in the bank. A cat and a large dog fill out the group. They are handy in these days of high energy prices, as they do heat up the bed at night after the thermostat goes way down. Also you can knit a sweater out of the fur they leave all over the house. In my neverending quest to be a dissapointment to my parents, and having tried almost everything else in order to avoid having an actual carreer, I have most recently been involved in the automobile business, working for a local Honda dealer. I run the dealership's EXCELL program, which is a Honda initiative involving customer satisfaction issues and dealership processes in a continuous quest to improve our customer experience. I am happy to be able to report that my parents, Dot and Wes are alive and reasonably well, still living in the family homestead on Hoskins Road. This affords me the oportunity to visit Simsbury somewhat regularly. (and not nearly as often as I'd like, never knowing when that door will close) It's kind of weird driving around in town, finding things that don't belong there (especially the stop signs/lights) and missing...Expand for more
other things that used to be somewhere else. Kind of interesting, yet poignant to view the tract mansions growing out of the former tobacco fields I dragged my ass through so many years ago. I hope that all members of Class of '66 will make an effort to attend the 40th reunion, (which I assume we will have?). I don't know anything about one, except that this is the year. By now we are all old, fat, dead, rich, broke, gray, bald, maybe all of the above, whatever, and nobody cares anymore. It's just fun to see as many of the old gang as possible. Although there were certainly various groups, and we all had our closest circles, basically everyone in our class knew everyone else. (my kids had 450 in their class and don't know a third of them) Sometimes you find out things you never would have guessed from people you never would have expected (or suspected) Some of us are on the "committee"'s e-mail list, so I'm hoping to hear something soon. There's a small group of 66ers around town who have done all the work on the previous reunions. I hope they're still up to it. So if you've just stumbled on this, and are lost, or you aren't on the list you could try Fred Steinhagen (the ringleader, I think). He lives in Simsbury. I can't give you his contact information or mine, either, (that costs money) but you might be able to find him. You could track me down from the information above, if you are looking to get found.
