Richard's Story
Life- Life is good!!! I think I am finally where I was supposed to be...
School-
Let's see, Hillcrest Elementary School in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Robert Frost Junior High in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Fairfax High School in Fairfax, VA. Graduated with my BA from Saint Leo University back in 2004, and have completed about 2/3 of my M.Ed. at Regent University. Changing horses in the middle of the stream, putting the M.Ed on hold and starting my MBA at St Leo. Teachers that I recall: Doctors "lou" and Wighting at Regent. Mr. Ward, Miss Quill, and Mrs Powell from Fairfax. Miss Jennings, in Junior High. Fond memories... Being elected President of the French Club at Fairfax and never attending a single meeting. Riding the bus to Junior High and seeing a dead body next to the road, and then finding out it was the guy that lived across the street from us - you gotta love Chicago! Too many other stories to list and even more that shouldn't be told.
College-
I was 45 and retired from two careers when I finally got around to getting into college and getting my degree... better late than never, I guess. Saint Leo University, Virginia Beach campus. BA - Business Administration special...Expand for more
izing in Technology Management. Currently working on my MBA at Saint Leo
Military-
Been there, done that... just shy of twenty-two years. Nine cruises, seven years overseas, three marriages... typical Navy career. Worked on the A-6 Intruder - the Navy's best bomber EVER! Cruised on the Forrestal (CV-59) and the Saratoga (CV-60). Stationed at NAS Norfolk, NAS Oceana, NAF/NAS Sigonella, NAS Roosevelt Roads, and NAF Washington, D.C. Worked O-level, I-Level, Staff Duty, coordinated real-world SAR evolutions, and signed "Safe for Flight" for the CNO's personal aircraft.
Had the time of my life, but I don't think I'd go back and do it again - the Navy has changed too much! But, boy, the memories still bring a smile!!!
Currently-
After retiring from the Navy, and then retiring from selling Life Insurance, I taught Middle School Math, Social Studies, and Business Ed. Finally was able to do what I have wanted to do for my whole life!!!! Moved up from Middle school a few years back - didn't think I'd ever get past the 8th grade!!!: Went back to my Alma Mater, Saint Leo University, to be an Academic Advisor. I am also coordinating their eCBT Program for the Hampton Roads area.
