Richard's Story
After graduation I worked at U.S.Steel for a couple years then joined the Birmingham Police Department as a patrol officer where I met and married my first wife Karen, who is deceased, and so one of us had to go so I joined the Alabama Department of Corrections and was assigned to the new facility in West Jefferson where I met and married wife number 2! I stayed there until 1982 and we came to Gulf Shores on vacation and never went back! Cathy & I divorced in 1985 and I was working for the Gulf Shores Utility board as a water treatment plant operator. I met and married a local girl Sherry and we have a son James who is about to be 16. I am so very proud of him, he makes all As & Bs, is a member of the National Honor Society. He is a great catcher on the baseball team and a lineman of the football team.They call him "the brick wall or bigun" because at 15 years old he is 6 feet ta...Expand for more
ll and weighs about 255 pounds and is strong as a bull!(but he is still a punk!!) He likes going fishing and hunting with me, listens to country music and not that head banging acid rock. He rides his motorcycle (Yamaha R6) with me when we can find the time. I joined the police department in Orange Beach in 1995 and after a few years decided police work was not for me any more so I started driving a truck. I have been from border to border and water to water several times. My son has been all over the U.S. with me and has an understanding of places he studies about, such as the Alamo or Kennedy Space Center or Miami, because he has been to a lot of them with me. I came off the road and now drive a gas tanker in the Florida pan handle and South Alabama area so I can come home everyday. When it is not ball season we go hunting or fishing, seasonal, every week end weather permitting.
