Richard's Story
Life
Left Raymond and Willapa area upon completing the 8th grade and moved to Hoquiam. Graduated from Hoquiam HS in 1967.
Went to Seattle with local friends and enjoyed the times until I was drafted while working as a restaurant manager. Took an extra year for Army aviation. Was married while in helicopter school, and then was sent to Georgia and then Vietnam. Served my 3 year stint including my visit across the pond and returned. Was discharged.
Was out about 18 months and went back into the Army. My two oldest sons were born. Went to weekend and night school and completed my bachelors in adult education. Began attending night school working on a MBA.
Left the service in 1979 and

nsferred to Colombia South America. Worked on the Cerrejon Coal Project for 5 years. At completion of the project returned to Tacoma and completed my MBA.
Went to work for Labor and Industries in 1986 where I still work today. Divorced and remarried in 1994. Now I have a wife, that I really like and can relate with, and 6 kids with 1 still at home.
My goal in life is to be at peace with myself, God, and make a difference.
Flashforward to November of 2009, I am preparing for retirement and have purchased and am living on a property in Grayland on State Route 105 7 miles from Westport just across the county line on the Pacific county side. It seems strange but also right that I have returned to the area of my youth. My home is equidistant from both the Aberdeen - Hoquiam and Raymond areas and I fairly regularly see folks from my youth.
