Richard's Story
Life
Hi,
In 1984 Sinbad finally released an album and like alot of things I did back then the timing was all wrong.Someone had already copyrighted the name and we were forced to take the record out of the stores.(we actually had Tower Records stocking them)In 1986 we broke up and I was very bitter about the whole experience, and I blamed certain people, but looking back,I blame myself most of all for allowing certain things to go on.After that,I stopped playing in bands.I became a recluse of sorts and I just went to work and recorded my own music on the weekends.I was happy for a while, but then I became very addicted(mentally)to a certain substance which I choose not to mention here, because I dont want to glorify it even in a negative manner. In 1999 I got in trouble with the law and served 6 months in the LA county jail and 6 months in a very strict court-appointed sober living house.I have been sober since June 24th,1999 and I will always stay sober because I never want someone to have that kind of control over me again.Even after the year of confinement, they had me drug-testing for another 2 years,it wasnt a problem becaose I knew I would pass everyone,as I did,but I had to make excuses for my 2 jobs to go test so they make it hard for you to...Expand for more
re-integrate to society which I found annoying but I guess neccessary. So from 1999 to 2005,I worked 2 jobs 7 days a week cause thats what I felt like doing and it was boring but fine and I felt good to be earning an honest living. In March 2004,I decided to be in a band again and I joined a cover band and we played shows about once a month. In July the guitarist moved to Seattle and that was that.In August Eugene Martin(drummer from Rainbow and Sinbad) asked if I wanted to join his Beatle tribute band and I said OK.Things went pretty well and in 2005 I made $12,000 playing Beatles,in addition to my day job but I was very tired from doing both.In august 2005 we played some shows for The Beach Toys(beach boy tribute)and they really liked us.Starting in 2006 we got a contract with Disneyland and I quit the day job YAY! WE now do 3 different tribute shows(beach Boys,Beatles, and Monkees)and 2006 was our best year yet.2007 will probably better yet,we are ahead of last years pace.Really, these last 7 years have been the best years of my life and I am grateful to all the people who helped me put it back together.Because at 43,I started over which is sad,but it has all worked out.Hope everyone is doing well,
