Richard's Story
I just wanted to say hi to all who knew me when I attended Edgewood High School. This is a very brief synopsis of life after High School. I mostly skipped over any bad parts.
After graduation in 1965 I enlisted in the Marine Corp Air Wing. By December of 1966 I was a helicopter crew chief in Vietnam. While in the Marines I also traveled to Okinawa, the Philippines; Hong Kong and Taiwan. After a 13 month tour of duty in Vietnam, I returned home in December 1967. I left the Marine Corp in 1968. In 1970 I went to work for the Secret Service in Washington, D.C. providing security for the White House, the President, and Foreign Missions in and around Washington D.C. and New York. I spent the next 11 years in law enforcement. In 1982 I went to work for the Department of Defense as a civilian technician working on jet aircraft and engines. I completed a college degree in Aerospace Technology. During this same period of time I was also employed by the Air National Guard as a Propulsion Elemen...Expand for more
t Supervisor, first for the F-4 Wild Weasel and then for the A10 and C130 aircraft. While in the Air Force I traveled all over the world. I was deployed to many exotic places including, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq where my primary job was supervision of the Propulsion and Flightline operations. My last deployment was Operation Iraq Freedom in 2003. I retired with over thirty years of government service in June of 2004.
When my beautiful wife and I met and married, she was a Registered Nurse. She later became a Doctor of Clinical Psychology working with troubled veterans and children. She has six college degrees and is the smartest person I know. She also is a great cook and my best friend. We have been happily married for 47 years. She retired in 2013 and we moved from Louisville, Kentucky to the Dallas, Texas area. We still have our Real Estate LLC that we started in 2002, and when we have time, we travel and have enjoyed many great vacations. We are enjoying our retirement years.
