Richard Haas:  

Life I left DHS to join the Marine Corps, along with Dale Jensen early 1951. After finishing Boot Camp, was temp assigned to El Toro Calif., Marine Air Station. After short stay I was sent to Japan then on to Po Hang Dong, Korea (K3). I was trained on radios and various communication equipment. I spent nearly 2 years in Korea helping maintain our Marine Air Support for the front lines, finishing HS, attaining Sgt. After returning to the States, was sent to Sand Point NAS in Seattle, Wa. Shortly thereafter I met Carol Phillips, we dated for a short time, after making S/SGT we were married. We had 4 beautiful daughters. After leaving The Marines in 1954, we moved to The Dalles where I worked for about a year, working on construction of The Dalles Dam. In 1957 we moved back to Seattle.
