Richard's Story
Richard L. Heaton has been a member of the California State Bar since 1976. He graduated from the University of California at San Diego with the degree of bachelor of arts in 1972. Mr. Heaton’s legal education was received at the University of Kentucky where he graduated with a degree of Juris Doctor in 1976. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, Mr. Heaton practiced law until 1978 when he became associated with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young. He then joined the accounting firm of Main Hurdman, leaving the latter firm in 1983 as supervisor of the tax department. e Orange County Bar Association and is the former chairman of the Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law Section. Mr. Heaton is a member of the State Bar of California Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law Section and is a member of the Orange Coast Estate Planning Council. Mr. Heaton is a frequent lecturer on estate planning and taxation matters for the California Continuing Education of the Bar and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. In November 2000, his article appeared in the Orange County Lawyer entitled “The Death of the Death Tax?”
He and his wife, Jody, have four children and eight grandchildren; as of 5-2-18, all are within 60 miles of them, for which they are very grateful. Additional details may be found at Facebook.
