Richard's Story
I went to Tech in '56 and '57, and then transferred to North Side after my dad remarried and moved to Saginaw. This was pre-Boswell HS days, so I had to make the trip from Saginaw to NorthSide every day, and there wasn't any bus service that I can recall. I quit school in March of '58, and joined the Navy. I was in the Navy for six and a half years, and after that, I moved around, working in the oilfield, driving a truck, and working on ranches in New Mexico. I eventually decided to settle down a little, and enrolled in college, New Mexico Highlands Univ., Las Vegas, NM, Where I married. We had a daughter, and I wasn't able to keep up with school and family (financially), so I quit school, and went back to ranch work, eventually becoming a city cop in Clovis, NM. After our son was born, my wife and I divorced and went our separate ways...Expand for more
. I moved from NM to Texas, and back several times..; I liked the openness of NM, but could make a better living in Tx. I came back to NM in the early '90s, and re-married my former in '94. We now have 3 kids (the youngest is my stepdaughter), and 6 grandkids. My wife and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary on April 1st, the day after my birthday. We are both retired now, me from truck driving, and her from teaching.
I still have friends and relatives in the Ft Worth area, and visit about 2 times a year; in fact, we'll be in Grand Prairie for a wedding March 29th.
I'd enjoy hearing from anyone that has memories of Tech in the mid-50's, and possibly we can share some amusing stories. Also, I lived in Poly, and went to Wm James Jr High....(fond memories of that too).
So thanks for reading this, and I look forward to hearing from you.
