Richard's Story
Life
After Mt. Pleasant, I migrated to central Ohio to attend Ohio Wesleyan University. But my ties to Delaware remained strong, particularly when Jane Nidzgorski sent me a 20th birthday card, and I came a-runnin! We were married the next year, and Janie graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio State. One of the few classes I attented during my senior year was a media class in which the General Manager of the new cable television system in Columbus announced, "the future of cable tv is in this room." I took him up on that, and began what has been a 30-year career in cable tv, pay tv and most recently interactive tv. Along the way we had a son (Stevie), lost him to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, and adopted our son Ricky (now 16) in Guadalajara, Mexico. We bounced around from Columbus to Reading, PA to Denver, CO to Arlington, VA to Central NJ (working in NYC) and now to inky-dinky Darlington, MD. Philadelphia and Columbia, MD, as well as London. Jane is the political and social activist in the family, chairperson of the local community center and the de-facto mayor of Darlington. She recently took the Executive Director job with the local affiliate of "Rebuilding Together," the social service organization previously known as "Christmas in April." Ricky is the family hunk, darling of the girls and very serious soccer player. He spent the summer between 9th and 10th grade in Europe, two weeks in Denmark and Sweden, and one week in Manchester, UK. He noted that the folks in Sweden spoke perfect English, but everybody in Manchester sounded like Ozzy Ozborne! Ricky himself has turned us all into successful eBayers, the profits from which took the family to Hawaii on vacation a couple years ago.
