Richard's Story
Since high school it has been 40 years. It has gone by like a vapor! One thing I regret is that I never finished college. Getting married too soon was no regret, because I am still married to the love of my life. This year on December 9, will be 37 years! My wife, Gidget and I have a son who is now going to be 40 this year and recently got married 4 and a half years ago. My son and daughter-in-law gave us a beautiful grand daughter and she is the apple of my eye!!
I've had every kind of job you can imagine. So, not finishing college gave me the opportunity to do many different things. Music is my passion, but not my profession like it was in my 20's, but I still enjoy playing the drums at my church praising the LORD for His grace and mercy. I lead in worship every Sunday morning with the talent GOD has given me and I use it to the best of my abilities. After all, He doesn't want your ability to boast of what you do to get praises of men and pats on the back. He wants your availability to be used by Him for His purposes, which is to give Him the glory and praise. I thank God for the road map of life He's given me and I appreciate the trials as much as the rewards. It has helped me to be what I am today. A husband, a father, a son to my parents who I love. I miss them because of their passing to the hereafter. My greatest joy now is being a grandfather to my sweet little grand daughter Lily.
I presently work as a Facility Manager for my church in Slidell, Louisiana and do my ministries as a drummer, a 3rd grade Sunday School Teacher, a deacon, and a mentor to the young people there. The church is Grace Memorial Baptist Church; a great place to fellowship and serve Jesus! The people there are the best in the world to Gidget and I. They minister to us by giving us meals, and they do it out of love because of my wife's illness. Even though Sclerederma has ravaged her body with pain and deterioration, she is faithful and brave with the suffering she endures. My church family is my family with my blood family because I have some of the most trustful and loving friends I've ever come into knowing.
My wife and I hope to continue to do Lay Renewals for other churches and I hope to retire in five to six years to maybe do more travel and visit other countries. Am I happy? You bet I am! I am glad to know my Savior and am at peace with our situation my wife and I experience with her disease. We all will die one day and every day is lived like it is our last day. So I'm glad to have my family, my marriage, my job, my church, and my Savior Jesus Chr...Expand for more
ist to live in a free country under our Constitution that protects our rights and our freedom. Without this great country to express our religious liberties, our freedom of speech, our right to bear arms and our right to protect our property and family....I wouldn't have it any other way.
When I die, I want those who know me and once knew me from the past to know that I was a soldier for Christ and a servant for God Almighty! I want those to remember I was a man of my word, and I said what I meant and meant what I said. That my word was my bond and you do not have to have a written statement in an agreement, just my word and a handshake. I want my family to know, that I would give my life to protect them and that I worked hard to provide and protect everyone whom I love and cherish.
Even though I am a dreamer by my profile tests of my Divine Design, I am an aggressive, energetic worker. Even though I'll be 58 soon the next month, I consider myself still in good shape to do God's work for His Kingdom and to take care of my wife and family. It is my duty, my oath to God, and my promise to my country to stand up against evil and fight for the rights we have as citizens of the United States of America!
God Bless our Nation, our Troops and our LORD!

Meeting Brooks Robinson the 3rd Baseman for the 1960's Baltimore Orioles. There were other famous athletes and stars in music and show, but Brooks was the biggest thrill of a childhood memory! Thanks to my Grandpa Russ for that!
I always wanted to be a baseball player when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were disappointed I didn't become one..
I blow off steam by going off alone somewhere and screaming. My way to relax...is to catch a baseball game on TV and fall asleep in my recliner off and on while watching the game.
The wildest thing I ever did in school?
Getting into a big fist fight right in the middle of the classroom during the beginning of class.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have coffee, read the Bible, and pray to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
Christ is my hero! What He did for humanity...no one can come close to the courage, persistence, and determination He had to go through what He endured!
I lived most of my life in the Metairie/Kenner area outside New Orleans. I moved to Slidell, because the housing market was cheaper for more what you were getting. Metairie property was a rip off for the small amount of plot to build a home for the outrageous price you had to pay to live in my opinion.
