Richard's Story
Life
After graduating from H.S I joined the United States Marine Corps, and went to various training camps: Parris Island, SC; NAS Memphis, TN; Camp Pendelton, CA; NAS Atlanta {HMA-773}).
I also went to the University of Georgia, Athens, in 86 and graduated in 92. Yeah, six years. I finally got my BS in psychology (after changing majors a few times).
I got employed at Scientific Atlanta in Norcross/Lawrencville in May 94 as a technician, and I've been mired there ever since, working in/on broadband/headend cable technology/systems.
I got engaged in 97 to a ballroom dance instructor. We went on vacation to Europe in May-June 97 for five weeks (Monaco, Nice, Cannes {I was at the 50th anniversary of the Cannes film festival}, Paris, Geneva, Frankfurt, Kassel). Unfortunately, or fortunately, it didn't work out between my love and me; she and I went our own ways in summer 98.
Since then, I've been the stereotypical recluse-writer. I've been writing a book (started it in 94, yeah almost eight years now), though I've really put the metal to the petal since 98, and have mostly completed editing it at this point.
Hopefully it'll do at least better than midlist, so I can climb out of this economic hole I've dug myself into from the time of my relationship with Robyn in 97-98.
I try to run at least four miles three or four days a week -- don't need any heartattacks.
I'd like to hear from anyone, even if I didn't know him/her too well back then; I don't know about ya'll but getting older kind of stinks, It's scary.
