Richard's Story

I got married in my senior year and worked two jobs and finished school. I had a few variety of jobs until 1983 when I went to work for the City. I have been there ever since and now work at SLC Public Utilities. I took some classes at SLCC and the U of U as well as AWWA (American Waterworks Associaation and I am a member of ISM or the Institute of Supply Management. I purchase and store most everything that goes into the Cities water, storm and sewer system as well as the chemicals used at our treatment plants. Both my sons play baseball and one (25) played his way through college and the 21 year old is a Jr. at Bellview in Nebraska. He is a pitcher. Great kids. them because most renters were a pain. I took some music classes at the U and Business Management and Diesel Mechanics at the community college. I could not decide what I wanted to do but was lucky enough to do all of them. I love the outdoors, hiking, fishing, fast cars and good friends. I had a couple of horses and sold them and a vizsla hunting dog for years and now I have a springer and she is getting old. It seems that half of the city employees work for the City went to West. I miss the old days the older I get. I supppse because friends move on and so did I. My best friend lives in California now and so I have to get out and meet new people. You know the song It's been rough and rocky travelin but I finially got my feet back on the ground. That's my life in aa nut shell.
